THE SEMINAR

A shared conversation on Assam’s tea.

Bringing together researchers, tea industry leaders, indigenous knowledge custodians and students, the seminar examines the heritage and changing economy of Assam tea, alongside labour, livelihoods, sustainability and innovation. The two-day programme includes a keynote address, two panel discussions, seven technical sessions, a tea exhibition and a book fair.

Prof. Madhurjya Prasad Bezbaruah

Retired Professor, Department of Economics, Gauhati University

A former Head of the Department of Economics and Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Gauhati University, Prof. Bezbaruah’s academic interests include agricultural economics, development economics and the economic issues of North-East India. He holds an M.A. from the Delhi School of Economics and a Ph.D. from Gauhati University.
